Kek Joklik

🔵 Boudenib to Errachida, Erfoud then Zagora
The Boss – Khadija Dehaoui

Camping Rekkam at Boudenib was one of the nicest sites we had visited in Morocco.  It was family-run, the daughter, Khadija (with a silent ‘K’), had taken charge of the business following the sudden death of her father.   The place was full of Europeans travelling on trail bikes, off road 4x4s, camper vans and the occasional motor home – and a Swiss man travelling in a Tesla X who told us that the world was in grave  danger from global warming.  He had to spend several days at each camp site before his EV battery was charged sufficiently for him to move onto the next place.

Few restaurants in Morocco served alcohol but Khadija was happy for us to bring our own wine.  Khadija’s brother was serving at table, his English was limited and he was struggling to explain about the dessert they were offering.  It sounded like kek-joklik – some Moroccan delicacy?  It turned out he was speaking English, the dessert was chocolate cake!  Our two-night stay, with dinners, cost £50.
