Romania to Serbia

Romania’s ornate style of architecture

Tourism was important in Romania – King Charles had a holiday home in Transylvania.  The scenery was beautiful and the people were friendly (meaning they were able to speak to us in English!).

Driving was torturously slow on the narrow roads – we were part of a convoy of cars and lorries slowly making its way through towns already busy with local traffic.

Towns chocked with through traffic

Eventually after some frustrating hours we came to a newly built motorway with signs indicating that the new road had been funded by the European Union. We passed fields of solar panels also bearing the EU funded blue sign.

When we reached the Romanian / Serbian border our documents were checked and passports stamped.  The border guards also looked into our habitation box.  They were very interested in our vehicle and our travel plans.  By the time formalities were completed there was quite a group gathered around the truck.  They and waved us a cheery goodbye as we drove on into Serbia.
