Fishing was the main industry in Sidi Ifni.  Next door to the busy daily fish market was an open-air restaurant serving fish cooked on charcoal burners.

Meat stalls specialised in either beef, camel or lamb and goat.  At the beef shop we bought four large T-bone steaks for less than £23.  Cages of live chickens were on every corner but when we wanted chicken for supper, squeamishly, we bought chicken pieces in packets from the cold section of the grocery store.  Seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables were in abundance, especially at the outside market held at the weekends.
