

Our next stop was at Sidi Ifni, a seaside town popular with surfers. Most of the camp sites were at beach level but the town of Sidi Ifni was located on a hill high above the beach, accessed by steep steps. The town had a good selection of shops and also held a general market each weekend. There was a permanent fish market next to an outdoor restaurant selling barbecued fish.

We had spent a lot of time in Sidi Ifni over the years and there were plenty of familiar faces around the camp sites. We were especially pleased to see Patrick and Christine from France. Patrick was a chef by trade and they were wonderful hosts. It was Patrick’s 69th birthday and we were invited to lunch. The table was loaded with lovely food, including foie gras and confit of duck. Patrick was an enthusiastic imbiber of alcohol and his English became more erratic as the afternoon wore on . . .
