The Öresund Bridge

We drove from Denmark to Sweden on the stunning Öresund Bridge – Europe’s longest bridge.  The crossing started with a tunnel 4 km long and then the bridge, 8 km long.  The toll to cross was £180.00.

Tony said the water temperature was OK

We spent two nights in Malmö.  The weather was warm and sunny and we were able to sit in the autumn sunshine and enjoy views of the magnificent bridge.  There was a row of concrete piers with bathing ladders along the shore.  One or two ladies were swimming sedately, coiffed heads carefully kept above the water.  Tony tested the water with his toe but he wasn’t tempted to join the swimmers.

During our travels in Sweden we soon realised that we had been mispronouncing that ubiquitous Swedish superstore.  The first syllable of IKEA rhymes with sick, not eye!  Were we the last people un the UK to know that?
