Auberge Borj Biramane on the edge of the Sahara Desert
The Jbel Bani escarpment dominated the landscape
The mountain changed colour as it reflected the evening sun

We were in the Anti Atlas mountains when we re-visited Borj Biramane, an auberge at the foot of the Jbel Bani escarpment.  We particularly enjoyed our stay because the auberge served alcohol in the restaurant and there were often several groups having an evening meal (Dutch, Swiss, German); the atmosphere in the restaurant became quite convivial.

It was time to leave when a big motorhome parked between us a the mountain view

You could take a walking tour to a nearby underground village that had been occupied by the Berbers for centuries.  The oldest dwellings (some still occupied) were built underground as security against marauding tribes and were accessed through small wooden doors leading to a labyrinth of alleys, sometimes three floors deep with the central courtyards open to the air to provide light and ventilation.
