We took a taxi from Bardolino to the restaurant where the Issey and Ame’s wedding reception was to take place, about twenty minutes’ drive into the hills. We had booked a table for Sunday lunch and enjoyed beef carpaccio, gnocchi with truffles, grilled steak, lamb chops and the rarest but tenderest piece of venison we have ever eaten. The main course was served with dishes of fresh vegetables and washed down with a fine bottle of Bardolino wine.
