We needed a couple of nights at a camp site in order to fill our fresh water tank and to do some laundry. We stayed at Las Dumas Camping, at El Puerto (de Santa Maria) – an area of sand and pine trees. Chores completed we moved a few hundred metres to an aire right on the beach where there were wonderful views of the harbour and bay.
The weather was warm 20° but windy with the occasional rain shower. The beach was quiet except for the odd dog walker but there were plenty of action on the water from wind surfers and dinghy sailors.
The parking area was large and there were about ten other motor homes staying over. It was the weekend and there were a number of people fishing, some with multiple with rods and lines propped up along the path. We never actually saw a fish being caught. From the parking area you could access to a mile-long groin reaching out into the bay.
The rocks along the path gave shelter to a number of well nourished cats and kittens and as we walked by we caught glimpses of their little heads peeping out. We noticed several bowls of dried cat food set out along the path.
