Driving south through Errachidia on our way to Meski, we had spotted a brand new MAN Truck and Bus concession. Although the problem with our air brake pressure relief valve hadn’t recurred, the fault had not been resolved.

Whilst we were staying in Meski we were due to have lunch with Hassan and his family in Errachidia. When he came to collect us, he took us to visit the MAN concession which had only been open a few months. The MAN men spoke not a word of English but, with Hassan translating, the problem was diagnosed and the replacement part was ordered for delivery the following week.

We went off for a few days to the Sahara until Hassan phoned to confirm the part had arrived and we returned to Errachidia.
They didn’t accept credit cards so we had to pay cash – £600 for a genuine MAN air dryer valve assembly (twice the cost of a generic part that we could have sourced in the UK) plus two hours labour at £17 per hour plus taxes.
When the job was completed we said a grateful goodbye to Hassan and the MAN men and were soon on our way.
