The Local Town Of Toya

Toya was our nearest town, about ten minutes drive from the Lake House; it had a few little restaurants and cafés, a post office and a tiny baker’s shop with wood stacked up outside.  The town was situated on the shore of the lake.  Everywere was very neat and tidy, I think you could be fined heavily if you dropped litter.  There appeared to be very few people out and about.

Lake Toya was formed by a volcanic eruption 110,000 years ago that covered the surrounding hills and valleys, creating a flat plain that filled with water and eventually formed the lake.  We visited a pretty little temple on a small outcrop in the lake.
